Sir Arthur Ignatius Conan Doyle, a Scottish physician and prolific writer, was born in Edinburgh on May 22nd, 1859. Though most famous for his detective stories, Doyle was a man of many talents. He practised medicine for a time, but his true passion lay in writing. In 1887, he introduced the world to the brilliant detective Sherlock Holmes, forever changing the landscape of crime fiction. Doyle penned numerous adventures featuring Holmes and his loyal companion, Dr. Watson, alongside other works, including historical novels, science fiction, and even poetry. Doyle passed away on July 7th, 1930, at his Crowborough, Sussex, England home.
